My phone does not alert me when i get a text from a contact in my phone. I believe it's just this one contact. It's my daughter so it's important to me that I'm alerted. Any help is much appreciated.

When this issue occurs, does it occur while connected to Wi-Fi or cellular or both? For this unique issue, we'd like to make some recommended troubleshooting steps you can try. First, navigate to Settings > Notifications > Messages and turn off this feature. Then restart of your iPhone:

After it restarts, you can enable notifications for Messages again and test to see if that helps. If you have any pending updates, it would be best to install them.
