We were able to locate Dell's product page for this drive: Dell USB Slim DVD±RW drive - DW316
Under the compatibility section, only the following is listed:
Alienware M15 R4
Alienware M17 R4
Latitude 5285 2-in-1
OptiPlex 3090 MFF
OptiPlex 3090 MT
OptiPlex 3090 SFF
So it appears that this drive may not be compatible with your Mac. You'll want to reach out to Dell to confirm, however.
