So I just opened my mac and saw a bright 1x3mm spot. Is this something that happens on these displays or should I get it checked in a service? Also, would Apple service my issue under warranty, or would they claim that I damaged it myself?

If someone comes to you with the same issue just tell them that it is a defect which is causing a pressure spot in the LCD. Had it been something physical it would have been a black spot which could be mistaken for a dead pixel, but those don’t happen often unless it is an OLED.

It appears that you opened your new MacBook Pro and are seeing a spot on the screen. Do you see this on in any lighting and on multiple screens (while your Mac is starting up or shutting down)? You could see if cleaning the screen may help if it appears to be something physically on the screen: How to clean your Apple products - Apple Support

Already took it to the Apple service center near me and they took it right away. Some defect in the screen is causing a lighter spot which is most visible on dark colors and invisible on white. I wish it was software related lmao.
