computer not reading hard drive i just installed

Last week I installed a hard drive in my computer. The computer is old (mac pro 1.1), the os is old (10.6.8) and the hard drive is old (wd caviar green 1tb), but they are compatible. After installing my computer showed the message: "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer." What can I do to fix this?
