Everyone else get [obj] characters when dictating messages?

Every time are use voice dictation when composing messages for social media I get this character [OBJ] coming up in random places is there a fix or anything I can do to stop it happening.

Makes me look like a BOT and I'm sick of editing my messages, you can't see the characters until after you have posted.

Thanks for clarifying newzealandnz,

This doesn't seem to be occurring for everyone. If you're interested in working through the issue with members of the community, providing additional information, like the answers to the questions in the previous post, can help members have a clear understanding of what's causing the behavior, so the appropriate steps or suggestions can be offered.

Are you making your posts from Safari, another browser, or from each app for the social media platforms you're using.

How long ago did the behavior begin?

It happens on everything I do, Pages, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn messages. It's just a fault with the voice dictation in general.

I am a big Apple supporter I even have a dog cool Apple iDog, I have all the devices except the Apple Watch which I think is a joke and I prefer a Garmin anytime.

And if you do a search on the into web you will see I'm not the only person on the planet who sick of editing their messages

This seems like you’re passing the buck I’m using an iPhone pro max.

I can use any app that you download from the Apple store and when using the voice recognition I get the same result maybe you should screen all the apps in the App Store before you put them online.

you haven’t provided me a solution and if you download Facebook app and use voice recognition to compose your message and post it you’ll see you’ll get the same result this is not the first time I’ve had the issue it’s an on going problem and I’m not going to contact Chrome about the issue because it’s not Chrome issue.

That is a fear reply let's narrow it down.

When I'm using my iPhone and using Facebook or the Linkedin app, composing a message using voice dictation I will get [obj] characters when dictating messages.

  1. I am using the latest operating system on my iPhone
  2. I have installed the latest version of the app for Facebook
  3. I have installed the latest version of the app for Linkedin
  4. It's been happening for over 12 months

I have also search the Internet and found there are many other people having the same problem when I'm voicing my words maybe when I pause it seems to be putting this character in the sentence.

When I post a message and I go back to the message I can see the characters however I cannot see the characters when I am composing the message only after I have posted it.

Other than telling me to go back to the app developers is there any other suggestion that could help me personally from my experience over the last 12 months I actually think the voice dictation software needs error control and when it doesn't understand what I am saying it needs to learn not to put in the [OBJ] character and leave it blank.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities newzealandnz,

We understand you're seeing an unexpected entry, when dictating messages on social media platforms.

Providing additional information can increase your chances of getting a specifically relevant and helpful response from community members.

What social media platforms is this occurring in? Are you posting from Safari, or a different app? Do you get the same result either way?

In the example you've provided, did you dictate anything after the word "employ"?

Cheers!

I use voice dictation on my iMac MacBook Pro and also on my iPhone Pro Max

If I am doing a voice dictation using chrome on my Phone or MacBook Pro onto any social media platform after I have posted the characters appear in the text as per my previous email.

When the reason why I don't believe it happens to everyone, because not everyone uses voice dictation as much as myself.

I have not tested it on Safari, however I am using apps for Facebook and LinkedIn and this is where I have the problem.

I've also search the Internet for other people who have talked about it and no one has offered a solution and what normally happens is I spend hours explaining what the problem is no one comes back with a solution and it looks like many others have also had the same problem and given up at the end of the day.

We appreciate you keeping the thread updated newzealandnz,

To narrow down where the issue is occurring, we recommend trying from Safari, as well as the native social media apps.

If you are encountering the same behavior in Safari and the native apps, try testing in completely different app, like Notes, and report back with your result.

If the behavior seems to be isolated to when using social media from Google Chrome, then working directly with Google Chrome support, who will be the most familiar with the software they develop and options available for it, will be the best way to proceed. Google Chrome Help

Thanks!
