Startup Mac Book Air A2251

Ok, so it looks like someone screwed with my Mac Book Air, and now I can't start it up?

I've tried holding the Option Key down, No luck

I've tried holding the Command R buttons down, No Luck

I've tried holding down the Shift, Option, Command R keys, and while it takes 20 + Minutes to do anything what it does is says to go the apple restart to continue.

I've tied to restart and have it read a Thumb Drive with the OS on it, No Luck

So how do I get it to read the thumb drive, or start up so I can erase the drive and start from scratch?

How can I get it to startup and recognize the ethernet cable I have plugged into it, instead of Blue network, which may not be good or strong enough for internet work?

Would this be easier to just replace the Hard drive?
