MacBook Air 2020 complete freeze on YouTube

Good morning, I am asking if anyone else has experienced the issue of a complete freeze of the computer when watching YouTube in full-screen on Safari on macOS Monterey? Some of my friends have had the issue but has anyone else experienced that? Is this a bug/glitch or could it be my computer? Kind regards

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0

Hi Jules-Aymeric,

Welcome to the Apple Community,

where some of us do our best to help each other troubleshoot :-)

Wondering if your MacBook Air has enough memory / storage free (at least 50Gb),

for Safari to operate smoothly.

Sometimes third-party (non-Apple) software can cause issues.

(Eg: Try disabling any ad-blockers, or unnecessary Virus checkers,

or

update third-party software to be compatible with Monterey.

or

If you wish to delete old third-party apps, best to contact the developer for the uninstaller)

Follow the very good advise of previous poster.

Another Test if Third Party Software is the root cause - Restart in Safe Mode This Mode will eliminate all Third Party Software, extensions and fonts from loading at all. It will boot much more slowly - Normal. Once Logged In to computer - Test if the same issue is presents.

To exit Safe Mode - just restart normally.
