Mac Mail - Attachment hidden behind embedded image

I have emails with attachments from someone with a signature. Their signature contains a URL to their company. That URL appears as a large white blank image with a blue question mark in the middle. I believe the attachments are hidden behind this. How can I stop this happening?

Also, Mail was nowhere to be seen in the topic list so I added it anywhere.

Is there any way I can just open them from a list? I can see how I can save them from a list but not open them.

If you hover your cursor over the space between the header and the message body, a toolbar should pop up which has an attachment button at far right end (if there are attachments).

Also, in the File Menu should be the command, QuickLook Attachment… (cmd-Y) and Save Attachment…

Thank you for your reply. I am afraid this didn't fix the problem. The attachments are still missing from the body.

All emails from a specific company appear like this so it is obviously their signatures that are causing the issue. They are too big for me to ask them to change too.

I do have one email where I can see the attachment but if I click it it goes to the URL of the company homepage. Therefore there must be an invisible image covering it that has a link attached.

Without being able to see the email, there is no way to tell what is happening. The problem is that email was never designed for things like attachments. Then people came up with the clever idea to stuff HTML web content into it. Then other brilliant people realized they could use that feature to track what people are looking at. Other smart people tried to selectively block all of the above, succeeding only in corrupting logos and facilitating the tracking.

And here we are today. What’s the answer? There isn’t one. This is as good as it gets and it will never, ever get any better.
