Cannot Verify Server Identity (Mail App)

Bought iphone 7 plus, updated to latest IOS 15.1.

When adding an Exchange account in the "mail" application, an error appears:

Cannot Verify Server Identity

The identity of "my.mail.com" cannot be verified by Mail.

"my.mail.com" is self-signed certificate. When adding it to trusted certificates, the error does not disappear. I also tried to delete the account from the "mail" application and reboot the iphone itself. Is there a solution to this problem? Previously, it was possible to simply accept the certificate upon request and use it.

KiltedTim, your answer does not help us to get the problem solved.

I am having the same problem as maksim230 since update to iOS 15.1. Other Devices with iOS 15 still working proper with self-signed certificates. But with iOS 15.1 I can reproduce the error message and trust issues while having self-signed certificate imported in trust store of the iPhone and iPad.

In iOS 15.1 release notes I cannot find any changes for certificate trust. From my end I think this is an issue at iOS 15.1.

The self signed certificate meets the following requiements:

Has anyone an idea to solve this problem?
