sound volume dropping in macOS 12.0.1

Good day,

My 16" 2019 MBP under 12.0.1 has been experiencing volume drops "or clipping" when running iTunes.

This is even when the volume output (not volume) is set to maximum, and sound check is NOT checked.

Any ideas/solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Merl1n!

From our understanding, the volume drops unexpectedly when listening to music using iTunes on your MacBook Pro. We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

Is this happening with all content or just certain content? Also, is this happening when using the speakers on the computer or do you have external speakers connected?

To get started, check out the information in this link: Adjust the volume in Music on Mac - Apple Support

Kindest regards!

These events happen when I am using iTunes (Music, v 1.2.0.273);

The event takes place when EITHER MBP speakers of external speakers;

Now, I learned from several years ago then if you go to Activity Monitor, and enter "coreaudio", and Force Quit the process. What takes place is the audio function resets itself.

Having done this very process seems to have alleviated the volume dropping.

We'll see how long the reset works, either temporary or permanent.
