Make Excel the default when opening

How do I make Excel the default spreadsheet and not numbers?

The answer below is a few years old and it does not work


Right click on file, pick get info and at the bottom pick app (Excel) to open with and also select do this for all. That will make Excel the default.


iMac 27″, macOS 10.12
