iPhone doesn't charge in car but does at plug

Since I upgraded to iOS 15 none of my phones will charge in any of my cars, and they charged before just fine and very fast. Yes, using Apple cables and no, nothing changed in the cars. My wife’s phone and iPad will also no longer charge. It gives the positive thunk when I plug it in but after that I can keep it in for two hours and the battery doesn’t drain but it maybe charges 1-2% only. The devices get very hot but do not charge.

On iOS 14 they charged fine and dandy.

in another thread one of the responses was to do a car firmware update in the cars but scouring BMW forums people say that can’t be the issue. It happens with both BMWs and one Honda. This is very frustrating.

Yes, they charge at home no problem. 🤷‍♂️

I am having this same problem.

I drive a MINI Cooper and am using an adapter cable is made by BMW specifically for Apple products (MINI is made by BMW) but my iPhone 12 mini no longer charges in the car.

I have ruled out the adapter itself or my car by (1) buying a new adapter and (2) realizing that the old and new adapters do not charge my phone even when I plug them into an outlet in my house.

When my phone is plugged into the adapter, it acts like it is charging. The battery is green and there is a lightning bolt on it. But my battery percentage steadily goes down instead of up.

Any advice on how to fix this issue?
