Kindle app update 6.48.1 crashing on ipad

I just updated my kindle app on my ipad to version 6.48.1 and it crashes as soon as I open the app. I have restarted to app and hard reset my ipad with no luck. I don’t want the delete app and reinstall as I will lose books I have in my library that weren’t bought from Amazon. Does anyone know how to fix this issue or know if the developers will fix soon?
