QR code accessibility issue

Hi, in iOS 15 I noticed when I scan a QR code using my camera the link shows up in yellow on the screen. If I move the QR out of the frame it disappears. In iOS 14 it would stay on the screen temporarily even if the QR code was not in the frame. Is there any accessibility setting to display the link like in iOS 14. I have limited use of my second hand so clicking the link is a challenge when it has to be in the frame.

Thanks,

iPhone 13, iOS 15

lot of good info provided by brbo, just wanted to add using the QR reader from Control Center auto-launches whatever you scan. So you don't need to tap on the screen.

Also, while replying in another thread, I recently played with the newer functionality in the camera app myself..

When I use the camera app to identify a QR code, yes, when the code is not in the frame, it appears that the ability to reference it has disappeared.. but it hasn't!

I noticed when a QR code is recognized, a little yellow icon appears in the lower right of the cameras field of view. It stays there for ~5 seconds or so. that little icon is remembering the code and presents a menu with options for you.. most likely similar to what you were used to in iOS 14.. and in a better area to reach and tap when you are one-handing your device!

Hi tzubairi,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Sorry I don't know of a way to hold the QR code, or the link it provides, on the screen longer, for you to tap.

(Guess it would be great if the link would just activate automatically!)

Wondering if the same difficulty happens

  • in the iPhone Camera,
  • Rear Camera, and
  • using the Code Scanner via Control Centre.

and whether one of those options will work better for you.

Eg: Apple's support article:

Scan a QR code with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Says: Select the REAR facing camera

while:

"Scan a QR code with the iPhone camera".

Says you can:

(Open the Code Scanner from Control Center

  1. Go to Settings  > Control Center, then tap  next to Code Scanner.
  2. Open Control Center, tap the Code Scanner, then position iPhone so that the code appears on the screen.)

Complete article:

Edit Control Centre on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Says: You can customise Control Centre by adding controls fo
