iPhone 12 Pro Max becomes laggy when connected to Audi Wireless CarPlay

I have used CarPlay (wired and wireless) across different cars for a while but have now run into an issue. I am on the latest OS (15.2) and connected to an Audi Wireless CarPlay which seems to support a higher resolution display. This almost always results in both the CarPlay interface having lags in the car (like selecting messages and waiting for 5 seconds for it come up, or click on a message to read and having to wait a long time).

Additionally half the time even after the phone is disconnected it still remains VERY laggy until it is restarted. So there is obviously a bug introduced at some point that is triggered by the higher res displays. I have tried all kinds of fixes, including restarting the apps, putting the phone in airplane mode and then back. Nothing fixes it until the OS is restarted pointing to an Apple bug.

Anyone else have this? Any solutions?

iOS 15.2 is beta software. It is not unusual to experience issues and you can report them to Apple using the feedback app you receive as part of the beta program. Issues experienced in beta cannot be discussed here on the public forum, it is a violation of the Terms of Use.

I'm sorry, but this is the first time I've seen a report like this. I suggest that you use the Get Support link at the top of the page here to contact Apple Support and explain the situation to them. You can ask that it be elevated to the engineers. Have you tried using CarPlay by just plugging it in and seeing how it works under those conditions.

I would wonder if Apple is aware of this, and if it is how the high resolution display handles CarPlay. While Apple provides the interface for CarPlay, the automobile manufacturer determines how it works in their vehicles, so I wonder if the iPhone cannot support the particular display they are using. I'm guessing here, but you should address your issue with Apple Support as I indicated earlier.

Thanks for the response, but if you do a quick search this problem has existed in various forms for over an year and with different platforms (but common on VW platforms which use the high res display). I have 3 other cars with Wireless CarPlay with lower res that I use the phone with and none of them show this problem.

Yup I may when I have time, but I posted here to see if anyone else has had this experience. As I said I see reports when I do a broad search. What is interesting is for some reason since the last restart on my iPhone (no updates) it has not happened again. So something seems to trigger it.
