I was seriously thinking of getting the Home Pod Mini to use as an external speaker for my iMac. Good thing I looked into it first. See that the Home Pod and Catalina are not compatible. Catalina OS was just replaced. Not like it is a 10 year old OS. This is not a good show of support for Apple. Ouch.

I need to correct myself now. I knew it worked on the last OS, which I thought was Catalina, but that was Big Sur. If it came out in October 2020 I would’ve been on Big Sur by then.

As a speaker via AirPlay. I had to select it each time after I went back to my Mac. I’m on MacOS Monterey now and the connection stays connected a little better.
MacBook or iMac running Catalina should be the same. Are you using the Home Pod Mini as an external speaker? Do you have to link it up every time you use it? or does it stay connected?
