How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

You can install macOS from Internet Recovery. The process for using Recovery is different if you have an Intel-based Mac or a Mac with Apple Silicon.

If you have an Intel Mac, shut down your Mac, then restart your Mac while holding Option+Command+R to install the latest public version of macOS compatible with your Mac.

If you have a Mac with Apple Silicon, shut down your Mac, the restart your Mac and continue holding the power button (Touch ID) until you see the startup options window.

From recovery, you'll need to authenticate your Mac, then you can reinstall macOS. If the install fails, or if Recovery installs the beta version again, you'll need to erase your Mac then install macOS again.
