Two things:

A. Use An External Keyboard:

If you are unable to enter the password on the MacBook Air, then try using an external keyboard. You would have to use an adapter, if using a hardwired keyboard that is USB A. This is the adapter to use: USB-C to USB A Adapter - Apple
