Apple watch music cutting out

Having an issue with the latest watchOS and iOS. When I’m at the gym. I put my phone in locker and use music from watch. When I get close to locker the music cuts off. Changed AirPods to connect to iPhone only when connected last. So annoying. Tried everything I could think of. Only solution is to turn phone off completely.

other things: the gym has poor or no mobile reception and it’s got something to do with the watch being disconnected from mobile data then pairing back to iPhone then disconnecting again.

please fix.

Are both devices using the latest software versions available? Does this happen in other areas at all, or only at this gym?
