Quite a while ago we were able to get certain apps that were used only on our phones for our MacBook computers. Example, like cross road and Among us. Those apps aren't available in the MacBook App Store. However with the recent Big Sur update you were able to download them. So my question is, why is it not working for my computer?

This may or may not work BUT only on Apple Silicon M Chipped computer.
It can not be done on Intel Based Apple Computers.
Side Loading was eliminated by Apple somewhere around Big Sir 11.3 or 11.4 and all subsequent versions there after including Big Sur 11.6.1 the most current version.
I have a 2020 MacBook Pro I think it should have the M1 chip
It may have an M1. You can know for certain by clicking the Apple menu > About This Mac and viewing the info provided there.
It doesn’t say anything about a chip, it does have something about a processor. Also it’s a 13-inch 2020 MacBook pro
