Bluetooth sound quality

Why does the bluetooth audio codec quality of my MacBook Air M1(Mac OS X Big Sur) go down when i use the microphone of my bluetooth headphones? Can someone explain why Macs do this? I use my headphones often for meetings and the audio codec always goes down to the SBC codec when I use the microphone of my headphones causing bad quality sound in my headphones and i don't want to resort to using my MacBook's microphone as well because I sit far away from my MacBook. Is there any way that i can fix this problem? I have tried using the Bluetooth Explorer but I have had no luck with the quality.
