Inability to search in Calendar on my Mac

Hello. I discovered today that I am unable to search for past events in Calendar on my MacBook Pro 2015. I am running Monterey, and all recent updates have been applied. I am using iCloud Calendar.

I get no results, even if I search for an event from a few days ago, or from a few weeks in the future. This issue does not replicate on my iPhone or my iPad, and all events are syncing in real time.

I've attached a screenshot, wherein I searched for an old Doctor's appointment. I've had several appointments with this Doctor and they all show up when I search on my iPhone or iPad. You will see that the search field says "Today" but the issue occurs in the Week, Month, and Year views.

I'm thinking that this is a Monetary bug. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Many Thanks

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.0

Same problem. I've for years been able to search for past events on my Mac, and now, with a brand new iMac M1 and updated OS Monterey, suddenly the calendar search for past events gives absolutely nothing. I, like others, see my calendar events of the past on my other devices, but not on their Macs. I work primarily at a desk and rely on quick calendar searches there for much of my work. Please, Apple: what is wrong with Monterey's Calendar app? We need a solution badly.

I had this problem (no search results in calendar app but correct results in spotlight) on release 12.3.1.

It is gone after update to 12.4.

My best guess is: this is not a function specifically wrong and it became fixed in a certain release.

This is a still existing bug which leads to a corrupted connectivity between calendar and spotlight search and it becomes fixed with whatever new release you put on. But this means also, it may come back on 12.4. as well.

If some engineers at Apple read in here ... there is some bug tracking to do for you.

My calendar doesn’t allow me to search properly. It only shows the most recent events of the same name. This used to be only my phone and now it’s doing on my Mac book air Monterey o/s 12.4

It will not bring up some of the events that are on the current page, I’m looking and typing it in, but no results!

I spent several hours talking to the advanced technicians at Apple Support over the course of three days last week. We did practically everything to resolve this issue of the search not working on o/s Monterey including reinstalling the o/s.

My next to the last call I was told that this fix works almost every time, so I can hold for another half hour or I could call back if it did not work. It did not work and can never get back to the same technician, unless supposedly they give you their email address.

At the conclusion of my last call i was told that they have been working on this issue since Monterey came out in the fall of 2021 and they still don't have a fix.

2021 14 inch with the exact same issues, solved by the above advice,

system preferences

spotlight

privacy tab

add mac drive to privacy

restart mac

remove max drive from privacy

restart mac

go to spotlight and search something, you will see a status bar, come back every so often till this has vanished

check a search in iCal, solved the issue for me

thank you tinkertots

Did you make sure to restart between each process as listed, the only other thing I did was a search in spotlight after the status bar was done, this showed the events in reminders (even though they are iCal events) the lot was then searchable in iCal

maybe give it another go restart after adding it and again after removing it in privacy.

good luck

Yes I did restart after adding MacHD to privacy and again after removing it.

I just did it again today. I was hopeful for the search took a long time to index. I don’t know if it finished, for I walked away and upon returning my laptop was in sleep mode and the indexing wasn’t appearing on screen.

The spyglass search only gives me a couple of many results that should appear from Calendar, (no longer iCal?), and nothing for current year on my laptop. (I have my old laptop for everything before 7/2020, my new laptop for 8/2020-12/31/2021 and my phone for current year!

Thanks for your help and encouragement!

Same here! I have my old Mac with iCal and works perfectly.

This is a feature that I rely heavily on for health issues.

I can’t believe Apple would do this to their customers and not even tell us! They lie on the phone until you wear them out before the admission of the faulty Calendar app. in Monterey.

I wish somehow we could protest. After this experience in the 21 years of using only Mac o/s’s.

Im about to give up on Apple and go back to android, they last longer.
