Big Sur's FTDI chipset compatibility...

I am having a hard time finding a serial adapter compatible with Big Sur (v11.6). With Catalina, the Keyspan USA-19HS serial adapter from Tripp Lite worked perfectly but it required a driver that Tripp Lite supplied.

Now, with Big Sur, Tripp Lite has no support for OS 11.6 and the quest to find a serial adapter or a driver that works has to be done once again.

I eared that Big Sur has FTDI chipset compatibility imbedded within the OS. If that is correct, how can I know what are those specific chipset compatibility number that would not require any driver ?

We are fellow users and have no idea about Apple support for FTDI or any inherent chipset which may be sourced from multiple vendors. Apple product teams do not participate in these public user-supported communities, so do not expect an Apple hardware engineer to respond here.

There is a known domain of serial adaptor vendors whose potential product support for macOS 11.6.* will require an inquiry of them.

Since I cannot have support from known serial adapter vendors, I am trying to look at the problem the other way around.

You wouldn't be seeking support. You would be asking them a presales question about if their product is supported on Big Sur. Their response should be a simple yes/no answer. If yes, more details would follow…

I suspect and hope that somebody in this community could have some information regarding the embedded support for FTDI in recent Mac OS updates.

Maybe.
