All of a sudden my Large widgets for Stocks and Weather have stopped working and display Failed!
I've tried adding fresh widgets without success. The widgets appear to work when trying to add them, but once dragged to the right they fail. I can add Medium widgets which confirm that this is not a communication issue, so what's causing large widgets to fail?

Thanks for confirming that for us. Let's have you try starting up your Mac in safe mode to see if the issue persists there. Keep in mind that starting in safe mode will take a little longer than normal, because it verifies and repairs the directory, cleans caches, and loads only Apple-critical items. If the issue isn't replicated in safe mode, restart your Mac and log in as you normally would to test out widgets again.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue when using large widgets on your device. Have you tried restarting your iPhone since noticing this behavior? Are you running that latest iOS available for your device? You can verify this in Settings > General > Software Update.

The problem was some kind of corruption in my user account. It took a few hours with Apple Senior support to fix the problem, but now all is well again. Updated to Monterey 12.1.
i didn't even know you could drag and drop to add widgets. but i tried that with the large size "watchlist" widget and it worked fine. i also use a large "weather" without any issues. the only thing i can recommend to maybe be able to add the widgets is to hover over a widget you want until you see the green "add" button, then click it and see if that allows the large widget to be added successfully.
This is a macOS Big Sur issue.
Widgets work under Monterey 12.0.1 booted from an external drive. Looks like the problem has something to do with Big Sur on the internal drive of iMac 27.

I can Edit Widgets and select both the large Stocks and Large Weather widgets and they show data, but when they are dragged to the right to install they immediately report Failed.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Bad news. Booted into Safe Mode but problem persists. Same as before. Small and Medium widgets work fine but Large Widgets failed.
Also ran Onyx maintenance, restarted, and problem persists.
Other Large widgets work without problems; only Stocks and Weather widgets appear to be a problem. Since medium widgets provide data it doesn't appear to be a server communication issue.
Green plus arrow works the same as dragging; installing widget results in Failed!
