AppleCare

I ordered a MacBook Air last week along with AppleCare+. Like several (many?) Apple devices right now, the device is back-ordered and isn't scheduled to arrive for about another week. Last night I received the email that my AppleCare+ is effective immediately, which means I lose several days of coverage at the end of the plan. It's not a huge issue right now, but it could conceivably matter eventually. Calling Support, I was told that AppleCare+ is always effective at the time of billing (although I'm not sure why the billing is/was today or yesterday), and that there was NOTHING she could do about it. Really? There's nothing that Apple can do to address a discrepancy like that? It must be happening regularly during these times of back-orders and supply chain problems. Very, very disappointed in Apple.

I think you're right during normal times, but with the current backorder and supply chain issues, these are not normal times. Apple knows that as well as we consumers do. Delivery of my product (MacBook Air, apparently coming from China) is estimated, per UPS, as five days after the start date of the AppleCare+ coverage. Apple has as much capability to track the shipment as I do - if not more. Certainly they could create a program that would cause AppleCare to begin on the date of delivery. Equally upsetting to me is that Customer Support claimed to have no way to correct the discrepancy.

I would wait until after you have your device and set it up. Then check on the coverage dates. If the discrepancy is more than, say, 2 days, contact them by searching on how to change your purchase date (I was trying to send a link, but it kept defaulting to a popup showing my device). I will post it below, but do not know if that will work:
