Apple TV Remote Disconnects on iPhone 12

Using my iPhone 12 Apple TV remote control (via the iPhone

control center) will only work one time and then disconnect from the Apple TV

after closing the control center. After I close the control center and reenter

the control center, I can't reconnect to the Apple TV remote (one time use and

disconnects after closing the control center). If I wait awhile (approx. 1hr or

so) I can then reenter the control center and reconnect to the Apple TV remote

(again, a one and done use). If I turn off/on my iPhone 12 I can again

reconnect to the Apple TV control center remote (a one and done use) or I can disconnect/reconnect

to my network with the same results. I have performed all the troubleshoots

recommended by turning off/on, unplug, restart, resetting and updating the

firmware on the Apple TV 4K and my iPhone 12. Note: The Apple TV’s 4K remote

works just fine as does my wife’s iPhone 12. Neither one has any connection/staying

connected issues. Just my new (as of Oct 2021) iPhone 12. So far this is

the only bug I have found with my new phone. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello 56_F-100,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, when using Control Center's Apple Remote it disconnects from your Apple TV. We'll do our best to assist.

To make sure we're on the same page, when you go to Control Center and tap on the Apple TV Remote option. You can tap on the top dropdown to select the Apple TV and it will connect, until you close Control Center? Then when you attempt to use it again, it hasn't remembered you were connected? Or are you unable to see the Apple TV at all in the dropdown after this?

We've experienced similar issues in the past, but the issue has improved after removing wireless interference. We'd suggest checking for this to make sure it may not also help you out: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

You mentioned it hasn't a problem for your wife's iPhone 12, but it's still good to double check for that.

Note: If you're using a VPN or security software, we'd recommend to disable them and restart the device, as these may be blocking the connection: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues

You mentioned resetting the Apple TV and your iPhone 12, how did you accomplish this exactly? As that may provide us with more insight.

Let us know how it goes, cheers.

Thank you destiny241 for responding to my issue.

To Answer your questions: My iPhone doesn't remember I was connected but I'm still able to use the dropdown remote menu. Once I select Apple TV 4K the iPhone (control center Apple remote) will say Connecting (pic#1) along

with the connection icon spinning but doesn't reconnect.

No Wi-Fi interference. My router will automatically select 2.4 & 5ghz

No private VPN.

Another thing I noticed, when my iPhone does connect (within the control center) the volume buttons will display on the left side of the screen (pic#2). On my wife's iPhone her volume buttons will also display and on the right side of her screen the microphone will display as well while connecting (pic#3). So, I got to thinking that this issue is intermittent, it will eventually connect yet it still seems to be missing information while connecting. So, I unpairing my iPhone from the Apple TV 4K device (settings/remotes and devices/remote app and devices) and re-pair my phone. Doing so, everything has sync back up and

appears to be working fine. Not sure if the 15.0, 15.1 updates caused the glitch, but my problem has been resolved. Thanks again destiny124 for taking the time in providing your helpful suggestion to help resolve my problem.
