Cursor jumping after highlighting and deleting

When I highlight text and then delete it and start typing again, or just start typing over the highlighted text, my cursor will sometimes jump back a letter, or jump ahead, so I can't rely on where the cursor will end up. Any other time, the cursor is fine. It's only when highlighting and typing.

Hello skiddyitcher8,

Thanks again for reaching out using Apple Support Communities!

We understand the keyboard issue remains in all apps, even after the restart.

Let's make sure your Mac is using the latest macOS version with these steps: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Please reach out again if the issue continues once you're using the most current version.

Cheers!

Hello skiddyitcher8,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities! We understand your cursor is not acting normally after highlighting text.

Does this happen in all apps that you use, or only certain ones?

Do you have any keyboard apps or other software installed that might interfere with your keyboard?

Did anything happen or change when you first started noticing this? Does a normal restart of the Mac help at all?

Cheers!
