How to change behaviour of Mac mini SIL back to pulsing when asleep?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203576

Found the above support document which explains that mini SIL(Status Indicator Light)s from 2018 no longer pulse when Sleeping.

Thought this was actually a pretty subtle, yet useful visual to tell that my Mac was asleep.

Wondering if there is any way I could restore this behaviour and maybe if there was any practical reason they changed it in the first place?

Mac mini, macOS 12.0

You’re welcome. The “feature” officially exists, but it’s not of much use today, therefore also low down in priority for a “fix”. Why fix a mostly useless feature? For light intensity and other feedback, you can use https://www.apple.com/feedback/. All the best!

ah... Thanks lots for your explanation*

I know the M1 chips are super efficient nowadays. But hopefully the engineers and design team might bring this feature back in a future hardware update if there's a practical purpose to it then.

It's a small thing, but I found it really useful in the past.

Also the ability to customise the intensity of that light would be useful for people working in light sensitive environments.
