I could import all the mail from a 30GB account Gmail. The gmail accounts with problems are 50 and 110GB (the gmail accounts can have 30, 50, 80, 230, 430, 1TB, 2, 4, 8 and 16TB ). When I have to download 50GB or greater man account I will use Macuncle Converter to convert that MBOX in EML files .
With that solution I can work. I think Apple Mail has a Limit to import inboxes . I work with a lot of gmail accounts in the office and I used to import the emails when the users use all the account same space (30GB average but several are bigger than 50GB)
Thanks you very much.

Hi
I could import the whole MBOX 7.13GB in Safe Mode , I did the same :
Start with this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
i have 370GB in one imac, but as I said , this happens in several machines . and the google mbox is 30GB average.
the Mbox that i was using is 118GB, but the rest is 30GB .
I had to buy a software to convert the Mbox to eml. the command Import does not work.
EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.
Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…
Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...
<script src="https://pastebin.com/embed_js/KuvnghqA"></script>
The important part of the above is between the quote marks...

If pastebin is a problem for you then workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
How big is your file?
Instead of All Mail, for a test can you try just Sent like I did?
How long did nothing happen?
I think that is not the correct answer. I have this problem at least wirh 4 new MacBook Air M1/512GB, and 2 iMac 2013 (with SSD). I think Apple Mail is not doing that function.
Whay in all the machines I have the same issue and the same behaviour ?
The only thing I see in common y that the MBox files come from Google Takeout.
After 50 minutes Mal quits and the dialog to force quit appears asking to close applications because the system require more memory. I open Mail and the import folder Shows 0 items. All these steps under safe mode.
Whew, won't do that again!
Used 1/3rd my monthly data limit! :P
Thought I only chose Sent to Export for my smaller account at Google, it did both Inbox & Sent seemed to Import just fine here...
I'm using Mojave 10.14.6
You don't have a folder down lower called Import?
Thanks for you answers.
It appears that folder but with 0 Messages after Hours.
I used to do dis before and showed me a dialog with several options like inbox sent etc
There is not that folder
Thanks, now I can see the importing dialog asking to select inbox and Takeout and also appear the folders Import 1, 2 and 3. I will wait to see in an hour , if messages appear.
How much free space is on your hard drive?
