MIGRATION ASSITANT CANNOT CONNECT TO OLD MAC (FIREWALLS ARE OFF)

Just received new 2021 MacBook Pro. tried to run Migration Asst from old Mac mini.

On same WIFI network, firewalls disabled, not getting a connection.

Any answers?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.0

Yes. Do not use Wi-Fi. I know that the instructions say you can, but Wi-Fi is just too slow for they've very large files and the result is often corrupted data. Use a USB cable to connect the two computers and your problem will be solved.

If so and each Mac meets the requirements in the ‘Get Ready’ section of that article, are you able to instead transfer your data using a Time Machine backup?
