Just unboxed my new iMac, which is Intel-based. Although it came with a Magic Keyboard WITH Touch ID sensor button, there is no Touch ID option to set up in System Preferences. Have they done away with Touch ID for this computer model? What's the deal?? Thanks to anyone for helping!!

Touch ID has never been feature in 27" iMacs period. There was nothing to remove if it never existed.
Apple probably made a mistake by including the Touch ID keyboard with your Intel-based iMac. Unfortunately, Intel-based Macs don't support the Touch ID sensor on the Touch ID Magic Keyboard.
Not available on non-M1 Macs. Sorry!

iMac 27" would not even come with Magic Keyboard with Touch ID if you purchased it new from Apple.

Ok, but it has been omitted. It is available on MacBooks, (Intel-based ones too) as well as smaller desktops -- using the same keyboards, and I am annoyed. That's all.

I am astounded they would remove such a useful and popular feature from these computers, which cost a lot more than the silicon-based M1s. It seems random and counterintuitive to me, and really frustrating.
