TV won't shut off with Apple TV remote

When I hold the power button on the Apple TV remote, everything shuts off except the tv itself. It goes black and then the no signal HDMI-4 message shows.

Hi jjmart,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with controlling your devices using your Apple TV remote. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

We recommend starting with the steps here: If you can't control your TV or receiver with your Apple TV Remote

If the issue continues, use the on screen instructions to pair your devices again. The guide here can assist: Use other remotes to control Apple TV

You'll also want to ensure nothing is blocking the path for the IR sensor on the front of your TV.

Best!
