I have installed Monterey 5 times now, but it never completes, always reverting to 11+

Did you follow the developers uninstall process for uninstalling your AV app? If not it is likely still there and you also MUST empty the Trash.

I used the recovery install process and it worked. I'd also moved my antivirus software to the trh, but I don't know if that had any effect.

Is there any third party antivirus, cleaning or any other third party maintenance apps installed?
