Bose QC 35 one side doesnt work on macbook Monterey 12.01 while it works on iphone

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with my Bose QC 35. One side doesn't work while I'm listening to an audio - YouTube/Spotify, etc. That happens on the latest version of Monterey 12.01 on Macbook 13 Pro 2020 - Intel version. What's interesting is that the headphones work correctly on iPhone 6s Plus. I'm a little puzzled. I've already restarted the Bluetooth connection and rebooted the machine several times, but the issue still hasn't been resolved. Also, I've watched some fixes on YouTube, but they didn't work as well. Is there anybody who could help me with it? Maybe there's an issue with drivers? Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

Partially repeat previous advice but with differences.

Go to Sound settings on your Macbook, select "Input" (where placed available mics), and you could see that Bose QC 35 II is chosen as input (and works as a device for calling and so on). If you change the input to a Mac microphone - QC 35 II will work in normal mode.

I used this hint earlier, but from Monterey OS sometimes it doesn't work

How bizarre!

Same issue here - MBP 16", 2019, macOS Monterey 12.0.1 with QC35 II.

Was happily using them for ages and do not remember exactly when exactly this started to be happening - upgrade to Monterey perhaps?

Funny thing is, that very first thing I did, as others were advising, was a firmware upgrade on QC but this did nothing to improve.

Then someone mentioned balance all the way to the right in sound settings - bingo! I do not believe firmware update was necessary at all BUT what is really odd is that EVERY single time I change the volume using macOS volume slider, balance goes back all the way to the right, making sound to be coming out of the right hand can only (this does not apply if I change the volume manually using volume buttons on QC35 themselves).

Not sure if this is something to be fixed by Apple or this is specific to Bose but the latest upgrade to 4.8.1 did nothing for me to fix the issue.

Cheers.

Hi there,

I just checked, and the app version I have is identical to your one. As I have recently migrated to the iOS ecosystem, I've realized that I wasn't logged in to the Bose app. Once I did it, the app notified me that there was an update available. As soon as I updated the app, the issue resolved itself. Check from the app position whether there are updates available - open it up, and you should see it. Try it out. Hopefully, it will work in your case.

Thanks

I have the balance issue as well. It is happening pretty often.

But I have a weird issue too, it connects and disconnects randomly, I checked the firmware, and it is up to date. I am using the Bose QuietComfort 35, so the latest firmware is 3.0.3.

It is random but happens more frequently when I am using Zoom/Meet/Slack. This leads me to think that it is a software issue in the macOS. I work with two Macbooks, a 15-inch, 2018 model and another 2020, 16-inch 2019 model. Both are running on the macOS Monterey.

Perhaps it is a different issue because there are some people mentioning the Bose QC 35 II.

I have not found any solution so far.

I'm using QC35II since 2018 (I guess), and an earlier version of OS hasn't this problem (from MPB15 2017). But from 2020 (I don't remember the exact version OS) and Monterey (at the moment I'm using M1 Air) - it's a regular problem and old hints don't work correctly. Definitely, it's a software or hardware+software bug because on iPhone all work perfectly.

I had this same issue when I finally could connect again (for some reason I also had connecting issues and losing sound while listening) I did the same as jerichokirkley!

Strangely, the connection was working fine again for a while and suddenly today I'm having issues again. The sound is stuttering and I removed the other connections, but it's still happening. Anyone having the same issues?
