Did YouTube remove HDR from Safari for macOS Monterey?

I've been using my 2020 Macbook Air (intel i3) ever since it was released but recently saw some odd behaviour after upgrading to macOS Monterey. HDR playback on YouTube in Safari doesn't work anymore.

I tried to change my mac's display/battery settings such as turning off the "Optimise video streaming while on battery" as well as plugging the mac in, but HDR just won't play in YouTube. I'm using the built-in display only on the default "Colour LCD" profile, but can't figure out why HDR content won't play in the correct format.

Does anybody have any suggestions or has HDR content been locked out of Safari recently?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0
