iOS 15- can't turn off private browsing mode

The screen I have is grey with private browsing mode header.

From the left of the screen is a + sign, followed by Private in Black in the centre with a down arrow which when opened has a header of : Tab group no. (with an option o copy links and below that a hand and Private. I only get an option for a new Private tab

It is not the screen displayed on the apple info.! when I touch on the double squares in LHC it comes up with a new private tab. It appears this has an impact on the function some of my apps.

It's driving me crazy! MOD

The 3rd screen didn't come as the same as yours Jude. and private mode was still when I tried to open a web site. I turned off the phone and went through the process again, and the private mode disappeared. So, I'm back to normal mode!
