Using a late 2012 iMac Catalina as monitor with 2019 iMac Monterey?

I have both computers connected via thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 but can't use 2012 as additional monitor. Is there a work around for this or is my late 2012 iMac now worthless.

Hello. In order to use your older iMac as a display with "target display mode," the other Mac must have been made in 2019 or earlier and be running macOS Catalina or earlier. As your other Mac is running macOS Monterey, you will not be able to use target display mode in this configuration. For information on target display mode, please see the article here.
