just updated to iPhone 13 and when I used find my on the phone it will not run in live mode. I made sure the phone is running newest iOS 15.1 but still only runs in old mode. my 8 plus was running in live mode so don't understand why brand new phone won't.

It sounds like you have a concern with Find My not working when it comes to showing a location live. We'll be happy to help out.
Do some members show their live location or does it not display for anyone? Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Find My and toggle this off then back on to see if it updates correctly.
