I updated my 2015 MAC BOOK PRO to macOS Monterey. It will not download to my SEAGATE PLUS 2 T disk because it has a disc password . How do i update?

That's probably why you can't download the installers to that drive.
Have you considered partitioning the drive and make a small, unencrypted volume of around 100 GB?
What won't download to your external Seagate Plus 2T drive? Are you trying to install Monterey on it also?
YES. All my Apple updates doweload to my SEAGATE Plus drive. This is the first time it has not

How is it formatted?
Most Seagate drives come with software on it. Did you install that software? Macs do not need to manage the drive.
