Apple Watch Delivering Delayed Notifications

My Apple Watch (Series 3) is delivering text notifications anywhere from 1-15 minutes later than when I actually get the message. Even if I've already read and responded to the message on my phone, it'll still send a notification to my watch. This only happens with Android users. It's sometimes so bad that if I had a very long conversation the previous day (with many texts back and forth) I will still be getting notifications on my watch over 24 hours later. Anyone else experience this, or know how to stop it?

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
