Hi bamaster,

You can use several apps to write documents on your Mac. The most well-known app is Microsoft Word, but it requires a license (either single-purchase or subscription) in order to use.

Apple also offers their own productivity suite. You can download these apps from the Mac App Store for free:

  • Pages (similar to Word)
  • Keynote (similar to PowerPoint)
  • Numbers (similar to Excel)

IMPORTANT: If you send documents that you made with Apple's apps listed above, be sure to save a copy of your document in a compatible Microsoft format. Windows PCs cannot read native files made by Pages, Keynote, or Numbers.
