Touch ID not working on new Magic Keyboard

Hi. I have a MacBook Pro 13", 2020 running macOS Monterey. I connected a new magic keyboard with Touch ID yesterday. The Touch ID will lock my MacBook but it is not reading fingerprint with and without the cable connected. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
