Texting myself goes to my work phone that’s not associated in any way

My personal phone and work phone are both apple and ATT. Other than that they are not associated in any other way. They have separate Apple IDs, I do not have iMessage forwarding on, my personal phone isn’t even a contact in my work phone.

When I text myself from my personal phone it goes to my work phone as an imessage. The message from my work phone then is sent to my iPad. I validated this pattern by blocking my personal number from my work phone and it did not show up on my iPad. Checked every setting out there on all 3 devices they are not connected or forwarding messages. The apple ids are separate and also not connected. This happens on WiFi or cellular.

what am I missing here?

Hello Taleof2Phones,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We've reviewed your question and it looks like your text messages that are sent to your own number are appearing on your work iPhone. It's understandable that you'd want this resolved, so allow us to assist with that.

We’d advise first checking to see where your messages are set to go under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, which lists the phone numbers and email addresses associated with the Apple ID which is the likely reason this should be happening. This article explains more about that: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime.

If you have follow-up questions, please let us know. We're here for you. Have a fantastic day!
