iTunes cannot be installed on Macs running Catalina, Big Sur or Monterey. It was replaced by other apps. See: What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support


Use Finder instead when using the procedure in If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support

See the following from that support article:

  1. Locate your iPhone in the Finder or in iTunes on the computer that it’s connected to. (Learn how to find your connected iPhone.)
