I’m having a big problem with Photo Library AND iCloud Drive creating DUPLICATE PHOTOS. My 2TB is SUDDENLY FULL in Photo Library and I’m having to go through 40-some thousand photos & videos to delete duplicates. Can you please tell me an easier way...AND WHY this happened. Thank You for your help.
You have created a folder in iCloud Drive section of finder and saving photos see the thread how do i move my photos to my computer - Apple Community
The same photos will be visible in iCloud.com or in photo library of Mac , possible reason the same photos are kept on desktop screen and you dragged and dropped in photo library folder .
See an example screen shot in which a single photo is on the desktop screen , if the same image is dragged and dropped once again to photo library folder it shows a pop up , check mark apply to all duplicates and click on existing and click on import .

Thank you very much Karina for your response. I appreciate it much. Although rather thorough info; I DID NOT see anything that referred to my specific problem of so many duplicated (from 2 to 6) photos of MANY photos. I am wondering not only how to fix...but, is this a general common problem that others have had? Thank you again for your help. I am grateful.
