Hi Brian,
The power button (close to screen, far right on keyboard) on your M1 MacBook Air also serves as the fingerprint scanner (Touch ID).
Hope this helps!

The power button that's the Touch ID now.
It is clearly shown in the little MacBook Air booklet that came with your MacBook Air.
Yes, Apple could have done a better job on noting where the Touch ID sensor is. On the Touch Bar Macs it pointed to the sensor using the Touch Bar, but it would be nice to state onscreen where it is as well.
Maybe that was left out with reconditioned one I got.
virtually nothing came with it besides the charger… but it had a nice new cellophane wrapped box!
Well even worse is the dialog box popping up guiding you to a place on the dang screen with the image of a fingernail!
thanks. I have used Macs since 1984.
I guess Apple is moving away from WYSIWYG.
nothing in the intro to tell me that tiny key, about 1/4 the size of my finger print is the place to train the sensor.
No ID on the key and way small.
Yet, the plop up a screen dialog box with a fingerprint on it to make you think this is a "touch" screen. The most obvious thing one does is use the TOUCH pad. . . again to no avail.
What is going on with Apple? All woke and no industrial design engineers any more?!
