What is this keyboard tool and how do I make it go away?

See image. I use the apple hardware folio keyboard on my ipad, not the on screen keyboard. This tool covers up the send button in some messaging apps I use such as Ring Central and OpenPhone. I need to turn it off. This issue was introduced with iOS15.

The icon at bottom right of the screen allows you to easily expose the on-screen keyboard for input of special characters that cannot be accessed from the physical keyboard (e.g. emoji).

The icons can be disabled from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Keyboard > [All Keyboards] Shortcuts - set to OFF
