BMW changing my playlist/album art disappeared

Three itunes questions: First, whenever I change a playlist on my phone, as soon as I play it through my BMW (bluetooth connection) I can listen to it once, but the next time I open the playlist any changes I made will be gone and it will revert back to whatever that playlist was the FIRST time I played it in the car. No matter how many times I re-add music, the car deletes it!!?? It also seems to be creating duplicate playlists, which is baffling.

Second, all my album art disappeared on my phone for my playlists. If I open a playlist, I see each song's correct album art, but in the playlist menu all of them have one of two different album art (strangely all The Cranberries, I have exactly 2 of their songs!). The playlist album art shows up correctly in itunes. Syncing my library to itunes did not help. I either have to recreate the playlist from scratch or take a screen shot of the album art and edit the playlist photo. This is maddening!

If anyone else has had these problems and found a solution, I'd love to hear about it!
