Apple superdrive will not eject disc

I placed a disc in my Apple superdrive and it was not recognized nor could I eject the disc. Apparently it was either a faulty disc though I could read it on my windows machine, a windows formatted disc.

Utilities, terminal command "drutil eject" did not eject the disc nor did the eject button.

Long story short, I turned off my MBP. With the superdrive plugged into the USB port I turned on my MBP while holding down the left side of the trackpad and the disc ejected.

2015 MBP retina models both 15" & 13" running BigSur
