Does the emergency notification feature transmit via satellite as an emergency beacon when cell service not available?

When my Iphone13 Pro Max is out of cell phone service, can the emergency notification feature transmit via satellite as an emergency beacon?

If it does, via what service and who covers the cost?

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15

Hello Richard,

Its sounds like you want to know if you can make phone calls when you are outside of service range. We understand how important this is to you and we are here to help.

The only way you would be able to make a phone call without service is if you were connected to Wi-Fi and have Wi-Fi calling enabled. This article can help: Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi calling would be handled through your carrier so you would need to contact them regarding rates.

Cheers!
